A paradise
The concept of paradise has been an important one throughout time. Its significance lies in its ability to make the human experience meaningful and bearable even though it is invariably temporary. Paradise is a place of absolute peace and abundance. It is a location that is not part of the normal timeline of history, and hence it is not afflicted by illness or crime, as well as death. It is also a place that is populated by eternally youthful and healthy beings.
Paradise is described in a variety of ways from the biblical Garden of Eden to the lush Pacific Ocean island paradises of novels and Gauguin paintings. Even in the present, the rise of communes, and the resurgence of interest in gardening and outdoor life can be seen as a manifestation of paradise. In reality the word "utopiana" is a metaphor for images of paradise. Although not all utopias have religious overtones, they often include paradisial motifs. They are also designed to achieve certain qualities and characteristics of paradise in real life.
There are many definitions for the word "paradise but the majority refer to a state of extreme beauty or enjoyment. It could also be the ideal place for a particular activity or hobby. For instance golfers' paradise or a hummingbird's paradise. In a religious context it can refer to heaven and the place where the righteous go after they die.
The word paradise has been used in many languages, but its roots are in Avestan which is an ancient Iranian language. The word is pairidaeza or "walled enclosure," from the roots pairi, "around," and daeza, "wall." It became part of the Hebrew and other Aramaic texts as paradeisos, and later adapted into Greek which later became paradise.
In the Bible, the Garden of Eden is paradise. It was a beautiful place where the first couple lived, free of death and disease. When they rebelled against God, however they lost their paradise. In later Bible prophecies, heaven is seen as a place in the eschatological future where a happy humanity can live forever. The word paradise can also refer to a state that is spiritual or psychological happiness and happiness.
